Driver’s License Apostille for South Korea

Do you need to apostille your United States driver’s license for a South Korea driver’s license?

To exchange your United States driver’s license for a driver’s license in South Korea, you will need to follow these steps:

Confirm Eligibility: Check if you are eligible to exchange your California driver’s license for a South Korean driver’s license. South Korea allows license exchanges with certain countries, including the United States, but the specific requirements may vary depending on the country of origin.

Obtain Required Documents: Gather the necessary documents for the exchange process. This will typically include your California driver’s license, passport, alien registration card (if applicable), a completed application form, and a certificate of your driving history (which you can obtain from the DMV). You may also need to provide a translation of your documents into Korean.

Take Required Tests: Depending on the requirements of the local jurisdiction, you may need to take a written test and/or a driving test in order to obtain a South Korean driver’s license. The tests will typically be conducted in Korean, so it is important to have a good command of the language.

Submit Your Application: Once you have the required documents and have taken any necessary tests, you can submit your application for a South Korean driver’s license. You will typically need to do this at the local Driver’s License Examination Office.

Wait for Processing: After submitting your application, it will take some time for your license to be processed. The length of time may vary depending on the jurisdiction, but it typically takes a few weeks.

Once your application has been processed, you should be able to receive your South Korean driver’s license. Keep in mind that the process may vary slightly depending on the jurisdiction, so it’s a good idea to check with your local Driver’s License Examination Office for specific instructions.

Before we can apostille your U.S. driver’s license for South Korea, you will need to make a color copy and meet with a local notary public in the state the license is issued from.  For example, if you have a California driver’s license, you will need to meet with a local notary public in California.  Once notarized, you can then mail it to our office with the California apostille order forms.  Please do not mail in the original license.

Obtaining an apostille on your United States driver’s license can be complicated and time-consuming. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the Apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!
