Spain is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention and any official document destined for this country requires an Apostille from the Secretary of State. Spain joined the Hague Apostille Convention on September 25, 1978. (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents).
